Abstract

This chapter is an examination of the concept of "doctrine" in a naval context and a detailed description of the naval gunfire support doctrine presented in the Tentative Landing Operations Manual, 1935, Fleet Training Publication (FTP) 167, and the various changes made to the latter document through 1943.
