Abstract
Two algorithms of the hybrid projection method corresponding to two polarizations are proposed for analysis of electromagnetic wave scattering by a radially inhomogeneous circular cylinder. The algorithms are based on projection matching of the fields on the boundaries of cylindrical regions, on projection of the appropriate Helmholtz equations on transverse functions, and on application of the one-dimensional finite element method to the obtained ordinary differential equations for reduction of the latter to algebraic systems with three-diagonal matrices. The advantages of the approach over some other methods are discussed.
