Abstract
A technique for assigning the eigenvalues of a system to any desired position through selecting the state weighting matrix, Q, of a linear quadratic regulator (LQR) is presented. This method is capable of placing both real and complex eigenvalues to any desired location without disturbing the rest of the eigenvalues. A physically realizable optimal controller with prescribed eigenvalues for power systems is designed.
