Abstract
In this study, an Omega-type MIN, which includes a novel regulated switchbox (SRB), is used as a testbed. The ultimate objective of choosing this setup is to be able to handle two-class load patterns (uniform and periodic hotspot traffic) more easily. The addition of periodic hotspot traffic to uniform-type traffic causes internal ‘tree saturation’, which can significantly increase the packet latency and even cause congestion. Moreover, results of simulation experiments demonstrate that this concept is a flexible and effective solution that provides a better quality of service to the overall network.
