These systems provide low cost installation and easy administration. The paper addresses the technical issues concerning the implementation of a robust and practical 16 Mb/s token ring LAN using unshielded twisted pair cabling for lobe connections. Three technical approaches are presented and evaluated for both common unshielded twisted pair cable and new high performance unshielded twisted pair cable.
