Journal of Arid Meteorology ( bi-monthly ) is an academic journal under the supervision of China Meteorological Administration (CMA), hosted by Gansu Meteorological Bureau, and undertaken by Lanzhou Institute of Arid Meteorology of China Meteorological Administration (CMA). Since its inception in 1958, it has focused on scientific research in the field of arid meteorology, covering the fields of drought event analysis, climate change, disaster assessment, hydrology and water resources, ecology and environment, and agrometeorology. The journal aims to present the latest research results on the formation mechanism, monitoring and prediction, risk warning and assessment and prognosis of global and regional drought events, as well as climatic phenomena in arid and semi-arid zones.
Journal of Arid Meteorology provides a platform for academic exchanges among researchers in arid meteorology and related fields, and plays an active role in the training of research and technical personnel in related fields. It is a core journal of science and technology in China and is included in several databases, including China Science and Technology Paper and Citation Database, Wanfang Data Resource System (ChinaInfo) Digital Journal Cluster, CNKI Chinese Journal Full Text Database, Chongqing Wipo Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database, and Superstar. Since 2018, the journal has also been included in the JST (Japan Science and Technology Agency) Database.In December 2023, Arid Meteorology was selected as T2 grade in the ‘Classification Catalogue of High Quality Scientific and Technical Journals in Earth Sciences’ issued by China Association for Science and Technology, which marks that it has become a well-known journal in this field.
