Journal of Foreign Languages is a bimonthly academic journal edited by the Editorial Board of Journal of Shanghai International Studies University and published by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Publishing House, founded in 1978. The international standard issue number is ISSN 1004-5139, and the domestic uniform issue number is CN 31-1038/H. The journal focuses on manuscripts in the fields of language studies and translation studies, and contains columns of foreign language strategy studies, literature studies, book reviews and conference overviews, etc. It has been developed for more than 40 years. After more than 40 years of development and with the support of experts and scholars in the foreign language field both at home and abroad, it has become a highly authoritative and influential academic journal in China's foreign language academic community.
Journal of Foreign Languages is recognised by the Office of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council as a core publication in Chinese social sciences, and is also included in Peking University's Chinese Core Journals List, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences' Chinese Core Journals of Humanities and Social Sciences, and China Humanities and Social Sciences Citation Database (CSSCI). In addition, the journal is also included in the full text of China Academic Journals on CD-ROM, China Academic Journals Network, Wanfang Database, and often reprinted in professional newspapers and magazines, such as NPC Photocopies and Digests of Literature and Science Newspapers of Higher Educational Institutions. It is the only Chinese language journal whose titles and abstracts are included by the Modern Language Association (MLA).
