Libraray Development is an academic journal organised by the Heilongjiang Provincial Library Society and the Heilongjiang Provincial Library, and supervised by the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Culture. Since its inception in 1978 with the name ‘Heilongjiang Library’, it has been revised many times and is now a bimonthly journal. The journal adheres to the tenet of ‘based on the province, facing the whole country, combining theory and practice, giving equal importance to popularisation and improvement’, focusing on the basic theoretical research of librarianship and reflecting the latest research results of librarianship. Over the years, with its high-quality academic content and innovative journal format, it has won a number of honours, including the National Outstanding Librarianship Journal Award and a number of core journals.
The main columns of Libraray Development include Academic Forum, Information Resource Construction, Service Research, New Theory of Management, etc., aiming to provide a platform for academic exchanges among librarianship researchers, librarians, and teachers and students of librarianship majors in colleges and universities. The journal has won a number of honours in the course of its development, including being awarded as National Excellent Librarianship Journal and Excellent Journal of Heilongjiang Province for many times, being included in the Ullrich International Journal Guide and China Humanities and Social Sciences Citation Database, and winning awards in several journal selection activities.
