Shanghai Finance was founded in 1980 as a monthly magazine, sponsored by Shanghai Institute of Finance and in charge of Shanghai Branch of the People's Bank of China. Shanghai Finance adheres to the editorial purpose of combining theory with practice, always standing at the forefront of financial reform and opening up, exploring financial theory, serving financial reform, and reflecting financial practice. The combination of theory and practice is the most distinctive style and feature of journal publication.
Shanghai Finance enjoys a certain reputation in the financial and academic fields, and has been continuously listed as a "Source Journal of Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI Extended Edition)" and "Chinese Core Journal"; It is an important source of reprints for "photocopying newspaper and magazine materials", a source journal of China National Knowledge Infrastructure, a source journal of China Journal Network, a source journal of National Philosophy and Social Sciences Academic Journal Database, and Wanfang Database, among many other database source journals.
