Japanese Studies was founded in 1985, under the supervision of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and sponsored by the Institute of Japanese Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Chinese Society of Japanese Studies.
Japanese Studies inherits the academic and knowledge characteristics of "Japanese Issues", and further strengthens its comprehensiveness and academic nature, and is committed to promoting Japanese studies with Chinese characteristics and the establishment of Japanese disciplines. As a national core Chinese journal and an excellent journal of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the journal mainly publishes the excellent research results of Chinese scholars on Japan in various disciplines, covering Japanese politics, economy, diplomacy, military, science and technology, social culture, language and literature, history and philosophy.
The journal has multiple columns, including monographs, academic discussions, theoretical research, comparative studies, characters, book reviews, academic trends, Chinese scholars' views on Japan, notes on visits to Japan, short reviews and abstracts of academic papers, etc., providing a platform for academic exchanges for Japanese researchers and a window for readers to understand and know Japan.
