Seed was founded in 1981. It is an agricultural science and technology academic journal managed by Guizhou Seed Management Station, Guizhou Seed Management Station, Guizhou Seed Society and China Seed Association. It mainly publishes research, development and application in the field of seed science and technology, as well as China's seed industrialization, seed management, practice of the Seed Law, seed inspection, seed production, new variety selection and promotion and application. It has columns such as research reports, reviews, problem discussions, resource research, foreign seed industry seed production, industrialization gardens, experience exchanges, and variety introductions.

《种子》创刊于1981年，是由贵州省种子管理站主管，贵州省种子管理站、贵州省种子学会、中国种子协会主办的农业科技类学术期刊。主要刊登种子科技领域的研究、发展及应用，同时对中国的种子产业化、种子管理、《种子法》实践、种子检验、种子生产、新品种选育及推广应用等方面。设有研究报告、综述、问题探讨、资源研究、国外种业种子生产、产业化园地、经验交流、品种介绍等栏目。
