The 5'-GpA-3' sequences are complementary to the 5'-TpC-3' sequences, the preferred substrates for apolipoprotein B mRNA-editing enzyme, catalytic polypeptide-like 3 (APOBEC3) cytosine deaminases, and thus their contribution to mutagenesis has been considered. In this study, APOBEC3B, the most abundant APOBEC3 protein in human U2OS cells, was knocked down in human U2OS cells, and a GO-shuttle plasmid was then transfected into the cells.
