The differential diagnostic values of bacterial number were assessed in children with LRTI.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was 0.95 for bacterial number in the differential diagnosis of bacterial infection from mycoplasma and viral infections.
