We observed that Rank expression in PyMT<sup>+/-</sup> and Neu<sup>+/-</sup> mammary glands alters the basal and luminal mammary cell populations already in preneoplasic tissue, which may interfere with the tumor cell of origin restricting their tumorigenesis ability upon transplantation assays.
