Interconnexion between texture and radiation growth of uranium bars
The results are given of radiation tests on fl-heat-treated uranium bars at 200–300°C, 450–470°C, 480°C.
Graphs are plotted for the radiation growth factors Gi as a function of the growth index GI which characterizes the texture of the specimens under test. The component of the elongation caused by radiation growth due to texture is determined. The radiation growth factor as a function of test temperature is given for weakly defined texture. It is shown that the mean values of the coefficients of linear expansion a measured in one direction give no idea of the character and degree of the texture if the latter is not uniaxial.
