Applicazioni cliniche della GBR in differenti difetti di cresta alveolare
Objectives
To describe clinical approach in the treatment of the most common ridge defects in implant dentistry on the basis of scientifically validated techniques.
Materials and methods
Guided bone rigeneration (GBR) with barrier membranes can be used in different alveolar bone defects. The knowledge of biological events priming guided bone regeneration is fundamental. When defect morphology does not allow a spontaneous regeneration, classification of edentulous ridge defect is necessary to choose the appropriate surgical protocol.
Results
The authors report some cases to show the results that can be obtained by GBR and inserting fixtures in a prosthetically driven way so that no compromise is needed.
Conclusions
The cases reported were treated by a validated and reproducible protocol and demonstrate that the amount of obtainable GBR is not only determined by defect anatomy but also by the tent effect that can be provided by a correctly shaped titanium reinforced Gore-Tex® membrane.
