The objective of this review is to analyse the influence of plantar sensitivity in improving the ability of re-balancing and movement management, by analysing the mechanisms that allow valuing and describing the factors that influence it. This required a systematic search of the literature published between 2000 and 2016 in PubMed, Web of Science, and Sport-Discus, as well as in the references cited in retrieved articles. The publication language was Spanish or English, and a total of 9 items were recovered and analysed.
Most studies suggest that foot sensory feedback is essential in maintaining the general (postural and displacement) and specific (sports) patterns. Altering the quantity or quality of the plantar afferent information, not only appears to alter the creation of different patterns, but may increase the risk of injury.
