Treatment options include antifungal drugs, surgical removal of infected tissues, and management of underlying metabolic disorders. Surgery typically includes the complete excision of the diseased region. These defects put the patient at risk for nasal twang, fluid leaks into the nasal cavity, and poor masticatory function. In such defects, the obturator prosthesis can create an oro-nasal seal.
