Pengaruh Perbedaan Pelarut dan Optimasi Waktu Inkubasi Bakteri Propionibacterium acnes Terhadap Ekstrak Etanol 96% Umbi Bawang Dayak (Eleutherine americana Merr.)
Background: Acne (acne vulgaris) is still a major health problem. Treatment with antibiotics raises problems in the form of resistance, irritation to immunohypersensitivity. Alternatives derived from natural ingredients are needed to avoid these problems, namely Dayak onions. Objective: extracts incubation time of P. acnes bacteria through differences and using an ideal solvent to find out how effective 96% ethanol extract of Dayak onion bulbs inhibits P.acnes.Method: Testing of compounds and the ability of extracts to inhibit bacteria with variations in incubation time, 24hours and 48hours, as well as the use of different solvents, Na-CMC and DMSO, then data analysis was carried-out using SPSSResults: Dayak onion extract contains alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids and triterpenoids. Interpretation of the results of the Wilcoxon test based on ranking, showed a positive difference at 48hours of incubation. Conclusion: The optimal incubation time of P. acnes was 48hours with the best solvent that could be used was dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO).
