The effect of Potato II medium for triticale anther culture

Potato II medium was tested against B5 medium for their ability to induce pollen callus in anther culture of a hexaploid triticale Beagle and two F1 hybrids between Beagle and wheat. Anthers of all three tested genotypes produced much more calli and two of them produced much more green plants on Potato II medium than those on B5 medium. The highest yields, i.e. 48.9 calli and 11.5 green plants from 100 cultured anthers, were achieved in F1 of Beagle × Kedong No. 58.
