Alnatura Campus – Neubau der Alnatura Arbeitswelt

Für den 55 000 m² großen Alnatura Campus wurde das ehemalige Kasernengelände im Südwesten von Darmstadt umfassend renaturiert. Versiegelte Flächen wurden aufgebrochen und das anfallende Material in den Freiflächen verbaut.

Herzstück des Campus ist die Alnatura Arbeitswelt, eine lichte, offene Bürolandschaft für bis zu 500 Mitarbeiter. Mit einer Bruttogeschossfläche von 13 500 m² ist es das europaweit größte Bürogebäude aus Lehm. Lehm reguliert das Raumklima auf natürliche Weise und wirkt sich positiv auf die Raumakustik aus. Lichte Räume, flexible Arbeitsplätze, ein Erdkanal, der das klimaneutrale Gebäude mit Frischluft aus dem angrenzenden Wald versorgt, eine Regenwasserzisterne sowie Fotovoltaik- und Geothermieanlagen erfüllen höchste ökologische Anforderungen.

Das gesamte Erdgeschoss funktioniert als Treffpunkt, als Raum für Kommunikation, der die unkomplizierte Begegnung von Besuchern und Mitarbeitern ermöglicht. Treppen, Brücken und Stege bieten Verbindungen zu und zwischen den geschwungenen Büroebenen und schaffen horizontale und vertikale Nachbarschaften. Der Alnatura Campus dient auch als Lern- und Begegnungsort für die Menschen der Region mit einem öffentlichen Restaurant im Erdgeschoss sowie öffentlichen Nutz- und Lehrgärten.

Alnatura Campus – building the Alnatura Working Environment

The site of the former US-Army Kelley Barracks has been extensively restored for the 55 000 m² large site of Alnatura Campus in the southwest of Darmstadt. The sealed surfaces were broken up and the resulting construction material was installed in the surrounding area.

The newly constructed building of Alnatura Working Environment is the main focal point on the campus – a bright and open office building for up to 500 employees. Alnatura Working Environment is the largest office building with an innovative rammed-earth façade in Europe with a gross floor area of approximately 13 500 m². The rammed-earth facade regulates the indoor climate in a natural way and has a positive effect on the indoor acoustics. Various features meet the highest ecological requirements: an earth duct supplying the climate-neutral building with fresh air from the near forest; the rainwater cistern; the photovoltaic and geothermal systems; the large rooms full of light; flexible workplaces.

The entire ground floor functions as a meeting place and a communication space, thus promoting the uncomplicated encounter between the visitors and the employees. Stairs, bridges and walkways connect the curved levels, creating horizontal and vertical neighborhoods. Alnatura Campus serves further as a learning and meeting place for the local community with a restaurant on the ground floor. The nearby public herbal, vegetable and fruit gardens were established with educational purpose as well.
