TWO-DIMENSIONAL COMPUTER SIMULATIONS OF OCCUPANT KINEMATICS IN A VARIETY OF REAREND COLLISIONS ARE UTILIZED TO PROVIDE INITIAL PERFORMANCE CRITERIA FOR HEAD RESTRAINT DESIGN CONFIGURATIONS. THE RESULTING PROTOTYPE SYSTEM UNDERWENT A TEST AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ON AN IMPACT SLED.
