The following four areas were especially emphasized: Superheavy elements − production, chemical and nuclear properties, and potential use of the unique techniques developed to solve applied problems; Nuclear processes as chemical probes to explore environmental and ecological radionuclide distributions; Application of nuclear and radiochemical techniques to geochemical, pharmaceutical, and biological sciences, and even information technology; Environmental radiochemistry and fundamental actinide sciences and practical applications in nuclear waste storage and remediation. These topics were explored in both invited lectures and poster presentations. The Global Nuclear Energy Program recently proposed by the U.
