The BaAl<sub>4</sub>-type CeAuGa<sub>3</sub> is a highly anisotropic ferromagnet with the transition temperature with <span><math><mrow><msub><mi>T</mi><mi>c</mi></msub><mo>=</mo><mn>1.8</mn><mspace></mspace><mspace></mspace><mtext>K</mtext></mrow></math></span>, which is confirmed by the hysteresis loop at low temperatures in magnetization measurements. Crystalline-electric field plays an important role in magnetic properties and the small Sommerfeld coefficient <span><math><mrow><mi>γ</mi><mo>=</mo><mn>12.6</mn><mspace></mspace><mspace></mspace><mtext>mJ</mtext><mo>/</mo><msup><mtext>mol K</mtext><mn>2</mn></msup></mrow></math></span> indicates that CeAuGa<sub>3</sub> has a weak Kondo effect.
