Mesoporous Silica possesses favourable chemical properties, thermal stability, and biocompatibility. The unique structure of mesoporous silica makes possible the effective loading of drugs and their subsequent release in a controlled manner at the target site. The properties like pore size, high drug loading, and porosity as well as the surface properties of Mesoporous silica make them a suitable platform for many drug delivery applications. This review focuses on the applications and the advances made in the mesoporous silica to broaden the spectrum of its use especially in the field of medicine.
