One important aspect of research is to derive recommendations regarding a reasonable DC distribution grid design. Until today, recommendations regarding the structural design of medium voltage DC grids are available, but no recommendations regarding the reasonable DC grid concepts for DC distribution grids are derived. Due to that reason this paper derives recommendations regarding the reasonable DC grid concepts for DC distribution grids. Therefore, reliability analyses of one exemplary, realistic MVDC grid and one exemplary LVDC grid are conducted for different DC grid concepts.
