Clinical effects observation of α-lipoic acid treatment in patients with dry age-related macular degeneration
Objective
To observe the effect of sulfur acid capsules of the treatment of age-related macular degeneration.
Methods
120 patients with dry AMD treated in our hospital from May 2014 to Oct 2015 were divided into 2 groups randomly.60 patients treated with LA 0.2g each time, once a day orally, 60 patients treated with placebo vitamin C 0.05g each time, once a day orally. Before and after the intervention, the SOD value, BCVA,CS and CLVQOL values were measured before and after 3 months. The changes of patients were compared before and after intervention.
Results
Compared with pre intervention, serum SOD, middle-low frequency contrast sensitivity and CLVQOL score before and after the intervention were statistically significant (P 0.05) in treated group. CLVQOL scores were positively correlated with contrast sensitivity at low spatial frequency (3 cyc/degree) in LA-treated group.
Conclusion
LA capsules can improve the antioxidant capacity of dry AMD patients and improve the quality of life of patients. It is important to prevent the occurrence and development of dry AMD.
