THE EFFECT OF PORT EMPLOYEE’ OCCUPTIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY AWARENESS AND CONSCIOUSNESS LEVELS ON JOB PERFORMANCE
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of the awareness and consciousness levels of port workers on occupational health and safety on job performance. For this purpose, data were obtained from 142 port workers working in different ports. Data were collected through online survey and easy sampling method. s a result of the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), which was conducted to test the construct validity of the scales, the scales were validated without removing any statements from the scales. In the study, the combined safety coefficient (CR) was used to test the construct reliability, the Cronbach alpha (α) coefficient to test the internal consistency, and the convergent validity. The average explained variance value (AVE) was checked and it was determined that all values were above the required values. As a result of the research, awareness and consciousness level about OHS, which is one of the most important issues in the field of ergonomics, positively affects the work performance of port workers (β=.510, p=.000). 26% of the variance of job performance depends on the awareness and awareness of occupational health and safety.
