The amalgamation of the Singhania trust and Marwari trust within the new entity resulted in the formation of a hospital building (presently called the Old Wing) located at the marine lines in South Bombay (now Mumbai), which was inaugurated by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, then home minister of the new Indian Republic in 1951.
