Effects of Danzhi Xiaoyao powder on late-onset post-pubertal acne caused by disharmony of Conception and Thoroughfare Vessels

Objective To investigate the clinical effects of Danzhi Xiaoyao powder in the treatment of late-onset post-pubertal acne caused by disharmony of Conception and Thoroughfare Vessels. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on the clinical data of 72 patients with late-onset post-pubertal acne caused by disharmony of Conception and Thoroughfare Vessels admitted to Heze Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2016 to September 2018. All patients were divided into two groups according to treatment methods, with 36 cases in each group. Patients in the control group were treated with conventional western medicine, and patients in the observation group were treated with Danzhi Xiaoyao powder. The levels of serum sex hormone, improvement of skin rash and clinical therapeutic effect were compared between the two groups. Results Compared with the preoperative indexes, the serum sex hormone levels and global acne grading system (GAGS) scores in the two groups were lower after treatment, and the indexes in observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The total effective rate of the observation group was 94.44% (34/36), higher than the 72.22% (26/36) of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions Danzhi Xiaoyao powder can effectively reduce the serum sex hormone level and improve the skin rash in the patients with late-onset post-pubertal acne caused by disharmony of Conception and Thoroughfare Vessels.
