Recomendaciones para la realización de estudios de sueño pediátricos durante la pandemia covid-19
In Colombia, with the current COVID-19 pandemic, some sleep units suspended the performance of sleep studies in the pediatric population due to the potential contagion and spread. According to the competent authorities, since June 2020, Colombia is in the mitigation phase of COVID-19, and the mandatory prevention measures implemented by the Colombian government such as frequent hand washing, the use of masks in public places, the physical and social distancing, and the confinement of most of the population in their homes, have helped to reduce the speed of spread of the virus. However, due to the severe economic crisis caused by the pandemic, local health authorities have issued several biosecurity measures to gradually return to relative normality, including the provision of health services to non-COVID-19 patients. This article aims to make recommendations for local sleep units to implement the minimum biosecurity measures that allow the restart and adequate development of sleep studies in the pediatric population. These recommendations are based on local health authorities' mitigation strategies, on a review of the relevant available literature, and the recommendations of some sleep medicine associations.
