The optimum flow rate, sorbent amount and sample volume were 1.0 mL.min -1 , 300 mg and 50 mL, respectively. 5 mL of 4 mol.L -1 HNO3 was the most suitable eluent. The recommended method is simple and reliable for the determination of copper without any notable matrix effect and successfully applied to environmental water samples. The limit of detection of the proposed method is 4.6ng per mL. The method was applied to the extraction and recovery of Cu(II) in different water samples.
