A hypothesis regarding the involvement of subcortical structures in the central neurotic mechanism is proposed. According to this view, human neurosis results from a functional disorder of the brain which can be corrected by the specific interventions of the “system for short-term dynamic psychotherapy” discovered by Davanloo.
