Synthetic strategies are discussed from a perspective of the structure-activity relationship between monomers and polymerization efficiency. The correlations between macromolecular compositions/sequences and emerging properties are highlighted in terms of stimuli-responsiveness, conductivity, and crystalline characteristics.
