Aptamers and the derivatives are also referred to as “synthetic antibodies” or “chemical antibodies”2‒5 that are able to bind with high affinity and specificity to almost all types of molecules as well as antigens, cells. Because of their unique properties, aptamers have a wide range of applications, particularly in biological and medical sciences, including diagnosis, therapies, forensics, and biodefense.6‒9 So far, hundreds of aptamer reagents have been developed for the applications,10 which are faster, cheaper, and less or without the predictable problems associated with the production of recombinant antibodies.
