Observation of the octupole septuplet of 209Bi in inelastic proton scattering
Magnetic analysis of 21 MeV protons inelastically scattered from the 2.6 Me octupole state of 206, 207, 208Pb and 209Bi is reported. In the odd-A nuclei this state splits into a close multiplet with the number of levels in agreement with the predictions of the weak coupling model.
