Molecular g-Values, Magnetic Susceptibility Anisotropies, Molecular Quadrupole Moments and Second Moments of the Electron Charge Distribution in Ethyleneoxide and Pyridine Isotopes. An Attempt to Determine the Sign of the Electric Dipole Moment
The high-field first and second order Zeeman effect has been observed in Ethyleneoxide in order to determine the sign of the electric dipole moments from the g-values of different isotopes. The experimental data indicate that in Ethyleneoxide the negative end is at the Oxygen while in Pyridine the result is not conclusive. The effect of vibrations is discussed in some detail and it is concluded that the vibrational dependance of the g-values should be accounted for if the sign of the dipole moment is determined from Zeeman data (at least if H ↔ D substitutions are involved).
