The effectiveness of the new method lies in protecting the horizontal part of the production well by drilling it through a non-reservoir plastic reservoir adjacent directly to the target reservoir. The paper considers various implementations of the technology and estimates the increase in oil recovery factor for each of them based on the results of hydrodynamic modeling. The risks associated with the implementation of the technology are considered.
