The detection of partial discharge is one of the important means of insulation supervision. In this paper, the experimental platform of PD photoelectric joint diagnosis was built. The development characteristics of partial discharge of 126 kV basin-type insulator for GIS under AC voltage were studied. With the increase of the applied voltage, three stages were founded from the beginning of partial discharge to the approaching flashover.
