Information Literacy Competency of Post Graduate Students at Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar

Information Literacy Competency (ILC) of postgraduate students at Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, is assessed in this article. The research instrument/questionnaire was prepared as per the Association of College and Research Libraries with American Library Association's 2006 Information Literacy Standards for Science and Engineering Technology. The questionnaire has one scoring scale and two non-scoring Likert type five-point scales. Research survey was undertaken in two rounds (second survey after a gap of 6 months semester). ILC satisfaction was low in the scoring result, however, non-scoring ILC was found good enough. Hypotheses are tested with t-test and effect size also computed, where applicable. Literature review had revealed that information literacy instruction and research is still at an infancy stage in the developing countries especially, hence, structural revision of course contents in the light of Information Literacy Standards is suggested.
