Despite the fact that the government is working to improve the Science, Technology and Innovation Policy for the agricultural sector, in order to address low productivity, one of the sectors that still faces these differences is the dairy sector. In this context, this article aims to present a theoretical framework of innovation as a reference for the decisionmaking of the different actors involved in the dairy chain. For this purpose, a review of the literature on innovation has been carried out and it has identified the main sources and barriers to analyze them in the context of the dairy chain.
