Bank capacitors can increase the voltage profile on the system. optimal placement of bank capacitors can reduce costs incurred. in this study discussed the optimization of the placement of bank capacitors using genetic algorithms on the IEEE 118 Bus system. Genetic Algorithm (GA) is a method that mimics the mechanism of the evolutionary process. This evolutionary process is carried out on a set of candidate solutions (chromosomes) by following the principle of natural selection developed by Darwin. The results of this study indicate that the use of the genetic algorithm method can reduce power loss by 13,67% on the IEEE 118 Bus Systems.
