Verres fluores d'elements de transition 3d et d'uranium IV
New fluoride glasses with BaF2MtFnUF4 formula (MtFn = TiF3, VF3, FeF3, GaF3, MnF2, FeF2, CuF2, ZnF2) are obtained. The vitreous areas are established for MtFn = FeF3, MnF2, ZnF2. Thermal and physical properties of some compositions are given. The absorption spectra of U4+ ion in these glasses are similar to those reported for crystallized compounds. In the infrared region, the glasses are transparent (T ≅ 60%) till the absorption edge at 10.7 μm for samples of 0.5 mm thickness. A comparison with homologous systems containing ThF4 is made.
