Cardiomyopathies have been proven to be associated with ferroptosis, a non-apoptotic form of cell death. It has been shown that some small molecule drugs and active ingredients of herbal medicine can regulate ferroptosis, thereby alleviating the development of cardiomyopathy. This article reviews recent discoveries about ferroptosis, its role in the pathogenesis of cardiomyopathy, and the therapeutic options for treating ferroptosis-associated cardiomyopathy.
