El acceso a la información como eje principal de la responsabilidad social del profesional de la información

Objective. This paper reflects about relationship between social responsibility of Information Science (IS) and its professionals at present, from a focus on human rights and inclusion in the knowledge society. Method. Literature review of the main authors that treat information science with a social focus. Results. They were identified several arguments that confirm the role played by the information professionals as promoters and guards the Right of Access to Information. Conclusions. We believe that providing access to information is the main axis of the social responsibility of information professionals.
