Comparison of Commercial and Anatolian Bee Venom in Terms of Chemical Composition
In this study, we compared the fresh bee venom samples which produced by Anatolian beekeepers and commercial bee venom samples considering the phisico chemical analyzes results. Sugar content analysis was performed using HPLC-RID, moisture content analysis was performed using the moisture analyzer and % Melittin, % Apamin, % Fosfolipaz A2 contents analyzed with HPLC-UV. When we compared the commercial bee venom samples with freshly collected Anatolian honey bee venom, we determined that generally apamin, melittin and phospholipase A2 content is lower in commercially sold bee venom samples. Additionally there was a statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of the moisture and phospholipase A2 (P <.05). When we evaluate the sugar profile analysis, it was determined that there was no difference between two groups except maltose and erose. The results showed that content quality of fresh bee venom samples which collected from Anatolian honey bee were higher than the commercially sold bee samples. This result clearly indicates that bee venom samples which will be use for apitherapy or cosmetic purposes should be obtained fresh or kept in very good conditions.
