ECONOMIA CIRCULAR: CONCEITOS E CONTRIBUIÇÕES NA GESTÃO DE RESÍDUOS URBANOS
Faced with the intense industrial activity, the environmental issue began to be raised only from the 60's, when the capitalism resulting from the Industrial Revolution ignored the environmental damage, also impacting society. Circular Economy (CE) proposes a transition from linear production to a model focused on the reintegration of waste in the production cycle, minimizing the extraction of raw materials and the impacts caused by improper disposal of waste in the environment. This paper aims to present the assumptions, concepts, limitations and contributions of CE to the urban waste management. A systematic review was conducted from the Scopus and ScienceDirect platform as the main result, the predominance of publications from China and Europe, possibly because the Circular Economy occupies the top of the political decision agendas. By valuing waste, Circular Economy no longer sees it as “garbage” and makes it important in the production chain, which leads to the reduction of environmental pressures.
