SUMMARY Faunistic and zoogeographic analyses of the Cholevid beetles of Sicily are given, as a starting point for future researches. A checklist, with complete chorological data, of the species present in the island is reported. Catoptzl morp/ms (Attiscurra) bedeli Fairmaire, 1879 is reported for Sicily (and also for Italy) for the first time. Nine percent of the species are endemic to Sicily. Three different biogeographical patterns for the Sicilian Cholevidae are sug- gested. A “northern pattern”, followed by elements that reached Sicily from North to South through the Apennines. A “southern pattern”, followed by elements that reached Sicily from South (North Africa); these elements either re- mained limited to Sicily or reached the southern Apennines. An “eastern pattern”, followed by “trans-Adriatic” el- ements that reached Sicily through the Apennines from East to West. These patterns are analysed and some 200- geographical hypotheses, based on the chronology of the palaeogeographical reconstructions of the Mediterranean Basin and Italian Peninsula, are given.
