Oxidative stress generated by excess free radicals has harmful effects which have been linked to several diseases involving inflammation, such as atherosclerosis. Recently published articles emphasize that atherosclerosis is a process influenced by excessive formation of free radicals with concomitant inflammation. Fighting free radicals is important to prevent the emergence of diseases.
