This article, set against the backdrop of the transformations in production and in the model of the capitalist State, seeks to describe the labor market for Social Workers with degrees from the College of Social Work of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, MG. Based on an in-depth understanding of the position occupied in the labor force by these professionals, it was possible to point out current trends and fundamental issues that need to be addressed by the entities responsible for training and representing this professional category.
